Summary: "Hitler's sentence of death. Historic pictures of the signing of Anglo-Soviet Treaty."
Description: Molotov arrives at an airport "somewhere in Britain" (actually Dundee) in a Pe-8, filmed as he steps out by RAF cameraman with Newman Sinclair. "Men of the RAF at this aerodrome soon got friendly with their opposite numbers from Moscow." His visit is described as the "best augury for the future close cooperation of Britain and Russia in the war against Hitler's Germany". He inspects a guard of honour before being driven off to catch the train which takes him to a small station where he is joined by Eden, Ambassador Maisky, Vice-CIGS General Nye and Permanent Secretary to the Foreign Office Alexander Cadogan. Group poses in the garden of No 10 Downing Street with Churchill and Attlee. Differences between Britain and the Soviet Union were reportedly smoothed over in the common need to present a united front against Hitler's tyranny. Inside the Foreign Office the Anglo-Soviet Treaty is signed by Eden and Molotov. Eden reads: "the treaty which we have just signed engages us to continue the struggle together until victory be won... after war is won we pledge to work together so that peace endures". Molotov replies in Russian. The Pe-8 takes off to carry Molotov to the United States.
