- Description: I. "Air Army invades Germany." (Universal) 1st Allied Airborne Army Dakotas and Horsa gliders are loaded with US paratroops prior to taking off for the drop across the Rhine near Wesel. Paratroops drop from both sides of Dakota and Horsas are released. Churchill with Eisenhower and General Sir Alan Brooke watches the operation. Horsa and Dakota crash, latter in ball of flame. German prisoners are marched along. II. "A City dies." (Universal) Lancasters bomb Pforzheim causing massive night fires. "Fires suck oxygen from the air, nothing can live in this inferno." III. "RAF flies supplies to China over the Himalaya Hump." (Movietone News) RAF Douglas DC-2 in flight over the Himalayas carrying supplies for the cut off armies. IV. "Blasting Dresden." (Movietone News) Collaborating with the Russian attack through Saxony, RAF bombs this "important industrial centre". "Dresden becomes a fantasy of the destructive pyrotechnics of the air war", over film of comparatively small fires. V. "The race to Berlin." (Paramount News) US troops form smokescreen before advancing. Film from Russian front shows artillery fire, Stormoviks releasing bombs, T34s advancing and dead and captured Germans. Maps of Reich before US troops knock down German frontier sign, Adolf Hitler Platz and Strasse signs. US Signal Corps film of artillery and street fighting. RAF 22,000 lb bomb on trolley and exploding. German POWs. Simpson, Bradley, Patch, Montgomery, Patton and Eisenhower. VI. "US-Britain develop jet propelled planes." (RKO Pathe News) First pictures of the Meteor and Airacomet on the ground and taking off.
