Summary: Documentary of rural life and almond growing in Sicily is promotional film for Cadbury's Fruit and Nut bars.
Description: Documentary moves from the blossoming of almond trees in Spring to the drying of almonds in the autumn over views of the Sicilian landscape and its inhabitants. Descriptive commentary is in the form of a question and answer dialogue between a knowledgeable male and an ignorant female, who, informed that villages are mostly quite pretty but primitive and simple, opines "Oh, I'm all for the simple life myself". Summer sees the drying of tomatoes and the need for irrigation and with autumn comes the almond harvest. Peasants shake the trees and transport the almonds away in baskets in elaborately painted carved carts. After shelling, the almonds are dried and soaked up for export. "Who needs such quantities?" inquires the female. Cadbury's Chocolate for its Fruit and Nut bars is the answer. Farmers treat their workers like a big family, the audience is informed. Film concludes with a brief glimpse of a harvest celebration.
