Summary:Their advance delayed by German bridge demolition and excited Dutch civilians, elements of the 34th Armoured and 146th Infantry Brigades enter Roosendaal.
Description:Infantrymen belonging to the 1/4th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry are seen entering the town, 49th Division's first major objective inside Holland, digging in by a roadside, and being greeted by the townspeople, who rush up to greet British soldiers individually and pose with them for family snapshots. With the infantry are Churchill tanks from the 9th Royal Tank Regiment's 'B' squadron, seen halted while crossings are made over blown bridges and then moving into the centre of Roosendaal with the 1/4th KOYLI. Sergeant Collins AFPU signs an autograph book for two Dutch girls. The cameraman examines road direction signs pointing the way to Rotterdam, Breda Vlissengen (Flushing), Willemstad and Bergen-op-Zoom; German military signs pointing to the nearest Wehrmacht postal unit are kicked down by excited civilians.
