Summary:49th (West Riding) Division's 146th Brigade captures Roosendaal without opposition.
Description:Shells from artillery supporting the brigade's push into the town fall on its southern outskirts. An infantryman serving with the 1/4th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry receives a warm welcome from happy Dutch civilians; the battalion's march into the city is lined by townspeople equally intent on hogging the camera as on greeting their liberators. A KOYLI platoon commander confers with his company commander; three riflemen examine a shrapnel-holed German sign posted on Roosendaal's town limits near a blown-up bridge, past which the KOYLI infantry is seen safely passing but which poses an obstacle for the 9th RTR's Churchills, one of which can be seen nearby. RTR and KOYLI officers hold an 'O' group around a jeep; Dutch civilians start to fill in a culvert blown up by the Germans and, preceded by a Humber scour car, a Churchill Scissors Bridgelayer from 34th Tank Brigade HQ arrives and spans the gap.
