Summary: In winning a bridgehead over the River Mark, the British 49th (West Riding) Division and the US 104th (Timberwolf) Division bring 1st Corps closer to Willemstad and Moerdijk, the German 15th Army's only ferry and bridge crossing points over the one-mile wide Hollandsch Diep.
Description: The cameraman surveys the battered high street in Standdaarbuiten, a town situated on the River Mark halfway between Roosendaal and Moerdijk; GIs from the 104th US Division's 415th Regiment(?) and the few remaining Dutch inhabitants can be seen, along with a roadsign giving directions to villages on the way to Willemstad and Moerdijk. A GI watches members of a Dutch refugee family, suitcases in hand, walk through the town. Outside Standdaarbuiten, near Barlaque, the cameraman observes British infantrymen from the 2nd Battalion South Wales Borders' 'A' company filing in sections along a dyke in partly-inundated polder country.
