Summary:
Description: The video first shows the "high quality" equipment. Shots of (1) the basic layout for standard 8mm transfers (Eumig P8 projector (with projection lens and condenser lens removed and replaced with a diffuser), 110mm lens (ex Debrie optical film printer), Sony DXC3000 camera (with lens removed), plus camera control unit above); (2) fitting bellows to front of video camera to reduce stray light; (3) threading film - "backwards", ie from take-up spool to feed spool - allows film to be viewed in correct geometry by camera; (4) stroboscope fitted to projector inching knob; (5) resulting transfer; (6) changing to 9.5mm - projector replaced by Specto (also with lenses removed etc), camera inverted (since this 9.5mm projector doesn't run backwards) and moved forward. Then shown is the simple equipment for simultaneous voice-over recording: (1) projector (another Eumig P8, with conventional optics), the back-projection screen, the Hi-8 camera; (2) connections: sound and picture out from camera; picture into monitor (sound connections not shown); microphone into camera; fitting microphone to subject's tie; (3) close up of stroboscope - to ensure correct synchronisation with subsequent transfers; (4) resulting transfer (picture only).
