Description: Mountbatten arrives at Comilla in his Douglas Dakota named 'Hapgift' and is received by Air Marshal Sir John Baldwin (Air Officer Commanding RAF Third Tactical Air Force). At Dimapur he is introduced to local commanders by Air Marshal Garrod (Deputy Allied Air Commander-in-Chief, South-East Asia Command). The party departs to Imphal via the Manipur road regained from the Japanese ten days previously. Mountbatten views the battlefields of Kohima. On his return journey he visits HQ Eastern Air Command and, with US General George Edward Stratemeyer (United States Army Air Force), meets Air Vice Marshal Williams. He also talks with RAF and American other ranks.
