Summary: The advance of 8th Army from El Hamma to Gabes (March-May 1943).
Description: Large number of Axis prisoners were taken in Liberation of El Hamma. The night before the next assault Montgomery and Eisenhower meet informally; the 8th Army press forward to Gabes, Royal Navy guards strategic positions on coast while allied air forces, in one of the biggest combined serial operations bomb enemy aerodromes, crippling Axis air forces. The 8th Army fight their way through to Gabes, taking thousands of Italy and German prisoners en route, and keep their rendezvous at Gabes with 1st US Army who arrive before them; thus the US and British Armies could now start final combined offensive.
