Summary: Interviews with survivors of SS Thistlegorm, merchant seamen Ray Gibson, John Whitham and Glyn Owen, plus Denis Gray (Royal Marines, gunner on HMS Carlisle. Recorded for use in television documentary about the Thistlegorm’s last voyage. SS Thistlegorm was an armed merchant ship which was bombed by the Luftwaffe on 6 October 1941, while at anchor in the Red Sea. The survivors were picked up by the light cruiser HMS Carlisle, anchored nearby.
