Description: 155mm "Long Tom" heavy guns belonging to the 52nd (Bedford Yeomanry) Heavy Regiment RA are seen bombarding German heavy Mortars belonging to units delaying 7th Armoured Division's advance towards Aunay-sur-Odon. Camouflage netting has been erected over each gun emplacement to provide a degree of concealment, a state of affairs which is comprised by the dust the blast kicks up each time a "Long Tom" is fired. Empty cardboard containers for 155mm bagged propellant charges are loaded into the back of a lorry before being sent away for salvage.
