Description: Four Royal Marines from No. 47 Commando, a unit serving with No. 4 Special Service Brigade serving with the 6th Airborne Division in the Orne bridgehead, slip into 'no man's land' and then into the German lines beyond Le Flein to serve as spotters for their 3-inch mortar platoon. Contact is maintained between the platoon and the patrol by radio transmitter. At the support platoon's position, four commandos stripped to the waist loose off 3-inch bombs in rapid succession.
