Summary: The hazards from carbon monoxide after explosions in confined spaces.
Description: The film explains the insidious effects of this colourless, odourless gas and illustrates this in a staged incident where a stray bomb explodes in the entrance of a dugout. The occupants of the dugout soon succumb to poisoning while the rescuers use breathing tubes improvised from hose pipes attached to their respirators while they dig their way in. Artificial respiration is given to each man as they are rescued - the film demonstrates a last resort method of freeing one victim's tongue from his airway and keeping it in place with a large safety pin.
