Description: Pioneers serving with the 50th (Northumbrian) Division clear the verges of the N162 Condé-sur-Noireau - Thury-Harcourt road at St. Denise de Mere of wrecked 9th SS Panzer Division (?) Mercedes 4 1/2t cargo half-tracks destroyed by the RAF on August 2nd 1944. In the countryside north of Condé-sur-Noireau near Les Forges, a reconnaissance detachment of two Universal carriers leaves the 1st Dorset Regiments forward battalion HQ. Two men from the battalion's anti-tank platoon camouflage their six- pounder anti-tank gun with branches and clip armour-piercing rounds to the gun shield's ammunition rack. Nearby under a clump of trees, German transport lies wrecked and abandoned. In the background can be seen the Matador tractors and 5.5-inch guns of the 10th (?) Medium Regiment RA moving to a new firing location.
