Film Number:A70 142-3
Other titles:
Summary: Coverage of the first leg of an RASC food convoy's road journey from Bayeux to Paris.
Description: The heavy lorries carrying food queue up to leave the Civil Affairs Base Port Depot at Bussy outside Bayeux. The convoy, consisting of fifty three-ton trucks and thirty ten-ton trucks towing five-ton trailers, takes the N13 to Caen, passing through the battle-scarred city to take the N158 through the plain south of Caen to Falaise. Short of Falaise, the convoy leaves the road and laagers in a field for the night. The next day, August 27th, sees the convoy roll into Falaise. En route to Argentan the trucks are given right of way to oncoming traffic; along this stretch of road, the road-surface shows signs of wear and tear. The trucks rumble into Argentan and then take the road east towards Chartres.
