Daimler scout car and motorcyclists and a jeep from the 1st Welsh Guards' HQ overtake German transport intercepted and destroyed by tanks and armoured cars spearheading 30th Corps' lightening drive on Brussels. The 1st Welsh Guards encounters yet more burning German vehicles shoved onto the side of the main road to the Belgian capital. A 2-inch mortar team opens fire on a party of Germans holding out near the highway. In Brussels, tank crews from the 2nd Armoured Battalion Welsh Guards receive an enthusiastic welcome from its people as soon as they - the first Allied soldiers to do so - entered the city.
