Summary:
Description: Filming from a moving vehicle, the cameraman follows a 1st assault Brigade RE Churchill AVRE as it heads through a village partially wrecked by the fighting (Crépon ?) behind two jeeps. As part of the construction of a pass around Crépon by 120th Road Construction Company RE, sappers blow up a tree lying in its projected path; earth is cleared away from its roots, gelignite is placed directly under the tree trunk and the tree is then toppled in a brief, spectacular explosion. A Dennis tipper lorry belonging to the RE unit tows the fallen tree away while sappers level off the torn-up earth where it once stood. Among the vehicles seen at various points in this footage, travelling along the road across which the pass will eventually run, are a Bedford water truck from a 2nd Army LAA unit, a Royal Navy Austin light utility car, several Bedford 3-ton lorries (some carrying Sommerfeld tracking sections), White 10-ton cargo lorries, an Austin K6 3-ton lorry (?) and a Mack 5-ton truck.
