Description: Film (shot from a moving vehicle) of an RAF truck passing by, of a despatch rider overtaking, and of a pedal cyclist (with a child seated behind) moving ahead. The camera vehicle passes groups of soldiers by the roadside (some digging) and of an armoured car: brief glimpses of poplar trees lining the road; the vehicle then goes through a ruined village (Bretteville) and the camera inspects wreckage; later, the vehicle passes through a less damaged village (Carpiquet): butchers, post office etc while jeeps, armoured cars, despatch riders etc come in the opposite direction; on to a bombed square, and past the "Salle des Ventes": a nearby tree has notice "To Winston Bridge" nailed to it; past a damaged church and cathedral, and take them into the country again (clearer footage). Trucks, armoured cars and motorcycles are shown and the camera vehicle is waved on by an MP (in breeches and peaked cap) controlling traffic, film of troops by the roadside, a bulldozer being moved on a transporter and of street damage.
