Description: In Afghanistan armoured vehicles drive past, soldiers parade and amphibious armoured personnel carriers drive ashore from amphibious ships. Soldiers embark a warship in port which then sails, amphibious vehicles land on a beach, helicopters, including Mi-8 'Hip' and Mi-24 'Hind' support an exercise and an instructor briefs a student before a sortie by MiG 21 'Fishbed' aircraft. Scenes of soldiers and armoured vehicles in Afghanistan are followed by an interview with Colonel B N Bruizgov at a research and development establishment. Further extensive scenes of armoured vehicles manoeuvring and amphibious vehicles coming ashore. Various classroom scenes show soldiers learning communications procedures and engineering skills, tanks, armoured personnel carriers and artillery prepare for operations in Afghanistan and a number of soldiers are interviewed, in Russian, on their experiences. The US Secretary of Defence, Frank Carlucci, accompanied by a US Army major general inspects a T-72 tank, warships at Sevastopol and aircraft, including a MiG 29 'Fulcrum' fighter and a Tu 160 'Blackjack' bomber.
