Summary: Second World War British Ministry of Information newsreel trailer using a comic parody of Adolf Hitler as a paper hanger to encourage the public to salvage paper for the war effort .
Description: The film opens with a comic actor with a side parting to his hair and a Hitler style moustache, wearing decorator's overalls and a long woollen scarf over a military style uniform with xx insignia, standing with one hand on his hip earnestly speaking nonsense words at the camera. He then pastes a paper strip stating NEW ORDER over a wall map of Europe. The accompanying commentary states "The paper hangers hangs paper. What we want to know is how hangs the paper hanger? The answer is that the public hangs the paper hanger - every scrap of paper you put out for salvage helps to hang the paper hanger, when it is made in to shell cases and other articles of war". Brief montage of paper pulp production and boxes of shell cases. The same actor, now dressed as a British civilian, walks around an office collecting paper of all forms and sizes (including a large bound book and a small ticket) and throwing the paper in a large pile on the office floor, with the commentary " Remember paper wasted or left lying about helps the paper hanger to hang on". The same actor, now dressed as Hitler again, stands on a step ladder pasting a wallpaper strip on the ceiling. He slips off of the ladder and is hung by his neck, strangled by the wallpaper around his neck. The commentary concludes " When it is salvaged and put in to the war effort paper can help hang the paper hanger". The film ends with the title ALL THE PAPER YOU CAN SPARE GOES TO HITLER - BY AIR.
