MS of incomplete Whale roadway running out over the beach, and pan across the harbour to caissons, floating crane, BDVs, two V/W Class (?) destroyer escorts, Despatch, etc. View directly along Whale roadway to stores pierhead - no motor traffic except a Fordson 3-ton truck and a Hillman (?) light utility. Shot beneath Whale roadway, westward along the beach to a second, then pan to CU of nearby beetle float and the roadway (beneath which camera was shooting) running out into the harbour. Mooring shuttle lies awash in the shallows between the two roadways. LS to the harbour from a position behind the 'West Wall', and pan right to show La Tourelle and Docks HQ. MCU of cameraman Lieutenant Dines, sitting on Somerfeldt track, surrounded by his equipment.
II. Series of LS pans from Despatch over shipping in the harbour - LCT(3), LCI(L), LCVP, LBVs, DUKWs, floating crane, Rhino barges, tugs and dredger, merchantmen and tankers, trawlers and MFVs, Bar Class boom defence vessel, HMS Haslemere, Fairmile B ML, and other vessels are present - blockship Alynbank visible in the foreground. MLS to caisson line beyond Saltersgate, and MSs of the gaps between the caissons - crewmen move over a plank placed between two blocks, scramble netting rigged across the space between two more. HA.MS of the sea breaking between the caissons. Fairmile B ML, pitching in the swell, enters the Mulberry harbour.
