Field Marshal Viscount Bernard L. Montgomery, Deputy SHAPE Commander, arrived from Baden-Baden, Hqs of the French Forces in Germany, for a visit to EUCOM Hqs. He was welcomed by a 17-gun salute and was given a Joint Army-Navy-Air Force Honor Guard review. On hand to meet him were: gen. Thomas T. Handy, C-in-C, EUCOM; Lt. Gen. Manton S. Eddy, CG, 7th Army; Adm. Carl F. Holden, Commander US Naval Forces, Germany; Col. Clyde K. Rich, Chief of Staff 12th Air Force; Maj. Gen. Daniel Noce, Chief of Staff, EUCOM: Brig. Gen. Edward T. Williams, Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration. Participating units under the Command of Maj. Henry J. Pierce, 12th Inf.Regt., from Charlotte, N.C., were: The Army 557th Inf. Pltn (Sep)-EUCOM Honor Guard; a Navy Pltn from the Rhine River Patrol. and an Air Force Pltn from the 517th Air Police Squadron. Photog: Forman.
