Summary: Shortly after the reoccupation of Rangoon, capital of Burma, British aircraft deliver supplies by parachute onto parkland near the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, and local civilians help gather them in.
Description: Brief shot of the cameraman Frank Worth addressing camera. Wide shot of parkland near (to the west of?) the Shwedagon Pagoda; in the midground a number of people can be seen and parachutes are scattered about. Wide shot; in the distance a Royal Air Force Douglas Dakota transport aircraft can be seen approaching at low altitude, the camera follows the aircraft as it drops supplies by parachute and then tilts to follow the parachutes. Another shot of a Dakota dropping supplies, this time with the aircraft passing nearer overhead; camera tilts down to follow and people carry the supplies to a collection point. Camera follows a Dakota passing directly overhead at low altitude. A team of nine Burmese civilians, possibly two of whom are young boys, run to gather in a supply case. A group of civilians, obviously at the cameraman’s direction, carry a bundle directly towards and over the camera with the Shwedagon pagoda in the background. Frank Worth addresses the camera and mouths ‘Roll Two’ and holds up his fingers. A supply bundle hangs by its parachute from a tree; some civilians yank it free. A large group of children carry a bundle. An even larger group of smaller children pass with a bundle. Wide shot of the collection point with people milling about, bringing in bundles and piling them on the ground; some Indian soldiers are present. A brief section of junk film from next to a lorry at the collection point; the camera whirls around. A Sikh jemadar, standing by a lorry laden with supplies gestures people towards him (probably laid on for the camera). Civilians run past carrying supplies. More supplies are put down near waiting trucks and troops. A civilian man pulls open a bundle. Four civilian men lift a bundle onto a light lorry. Indian driver takes his seat in the lorry’s cab. Worth; ‘roll three’. High and wide shot over the collection point; a lorry drives away. A group of Burmese civilians looking to the skies. Close-up. A group of civilians suddenly point upwards, supposedly to a passing aircraft. The civilians applauding. A flight of aircraft passing.
