- Description: Part 1: United News main titles. 'Moscow pact a triumph for United Nations'; at an airstrip various dignitaries are greeted including Anthony Eden. A Soviet guard of honour. The grounds of Spiridonovka House at the Kremlin with delegates in conversation. The conference table with delegates (Molotov for the USSR, Secretary of State Cordell Hull for the United States, Anthony Eden for Britain, Foo Ping-sheung for Republic of China) signing the agreement. A Douglas C-54 Skymaster with splash 'Washington, D.C.' The American delegate, Cordell Hull, returns and addresses camera. He is greeted first by his wife and then by President Roosevelt. Part 2: 'Nation honors US Marines on 168th birthday'; shots of posters depicting heroic Marine actions. An American flag is paraded past Congress, Commandant of the Marine Corps Lieutenant-General Thomas Holcomb at the saluting base. Marines marching past. Dissolve to Guadalcanal; a US flag is raised. Back at Congress the same flag is handed over and then hoisted over the Capitol building. Part 3: 'Naples University confers degress on General Clark'; General Mark Clark arrives at Naples University. Principal making a speech. Clark is robed in academic garb as a Doctor of Political Science and shakes hands with the academic staff. Close-up Clark. Part 4: 'Chiang Kai-Shek host to Allied leaders in Asia'; At Chungking in China Lord Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, descends steps with a Chinese general. Close-up Mountbatten. Mountbatten with Lieutenant-General Joseph Stilwell, commander China-Burma-India theatre. Mountbatten and other senior American and Chinese officers. Mountbatten walking arm-in-arm with Lieutenant-General Brehon Somervell. Mountbatten, Chiang, Madame Chiang, Stilwell, the lieutenant-general, and Chinese officers posing together. Part 5: 'US Army nurses train under fire for overseas duty'; nurses crawl under barbed wire as a machine gun fires over their heads and pyrotechnics explode. Nurses comes ashore from a landing craft. Part 5: '44 nations meet in US - pledge world relief'; footage showing refugees in both a Middle Eastern country (?) and in Europe (Italy?). Soup is distributed. A girl stirs a cooking pot. An old man and then a very grateful old woman appeal to an American officer. Chinese (?) civilians clamour for food. The White House; delegates sit down to a conference table. The document establishing the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) is signed by Ambassador Gromyko and Lord Halifax. Roosevelt signs the document. A close-up of the document shows the signatures of Lord Halifax and President Roosevelt. Roosevelt speaking; 'this agreement shows we mean business in a humanitarian sense, just as we mean business in a military sense...one more strong link joining the United Nations...in facing problems of mutual need and mutual interest'. End titles.
