- Description: Part 1: United New main titles. 'First pictures Alaska-Russia sky route'; at Ladd Field, Fairbanks, Alaska lines of waiting Bell P-39 Airacobra aircraft. Mechanics check the aircraft over. Russian pilots. The aircraft take off. Aerial footage of P-39s in formation with a B-25 medium bomber acting as leader. Part 2: 'Capture German radio outposts in Greenland'; footage at sea with calm water dotted with small icebergs. US Coast Guard officer on the bridge. Icebergs. A single-engine US Navy seaplane taxis past on the water. Gunners aboard the cutter open fire. Wooden dinghies come alongside; German sailors are brought on board. On Little Koldewey Island, off Greenland, a stockpile of captured German radio supplies and arms. Captured Germans are photographed with their hands up. Part 3: 'France signs United Nations pact'; interior conference hall at the United Nations. US Secretary of State Edward Stettinius addresses the audience. He speaks of the significance of France's membership of the United Nations. He pays tribute to French resistance and the new French Army 'they wrote in blood and sacrifice another glorious chapter in France's record of devotion to liberty'. He introduces French ambassador Henri Bonnet. Bonnet speaks. He signs the document and shakes Stettinius' hand. Part 4: 'Victory on Leyte'; invasion force at sea with landing craft in the water. Map of the Philippines shows Leyte with arrows highlighted Mindoro and Ormoc. Naval bombardment. Infantry of Sixth Army climb down to landing craft. A 40mm Bofors gun firing at a land target. Buildings on the waterfront under fire. Landing Vehicles Tracked (LVTs) beaching. Aerial view of the beaches with landing craft and vehicles. Field guns open fire. American soldier with a Thompson submachine gun enters a wooden hut. A badly wounded man is carried past camera on a stretcher. A medic treats a man on a stretcher; two other men hold a poncho or waterproof over the medic. Close-up sign 'The American Red Cross - Blood Procurement Centre'. Interior; a young woman donates blood. Glass bottles of blood are packed into a circular metal case and boxed.
