Description: A description of the damage caused by flying bombs, released now that their launching sites in the Pas de Calais have been destroyed ["by bombing"] and captured. The rails and bunkers of a doodlebug site are seen, also the tail-ends, nose-pieces, fuselages and wings ready for assembly. Compressed air containers lie on the ground, and notices in French and Flemish read "Danger: unexploded bombs!" Flying bombs which failed litter some fields in the Pas de Calais. Numerical statistics detail the number of bombs brought down by balloons (279), ack-ack (1500; film of ack-ack hitting flying bomb) and fighters (1900; good camera-gun footage of bomb exploding). Extensive damage to buildings in London, and shelter and rescue scenes, show how "the alarmingly extensive damage caused by the 2300 bombs which arrived successfully. By standing up to this ordeal for 80 days the capital diverted a substantial proportion of the German war effort form the field of battle". The distinctive sound of the doodlebug is heard as one passes low over a building.
