Description: General Montgomery, Commander-in-Chief 21st Army Group and commander of all Allied land forces engaged in the Normandy landings, is welcomed aboard HMS Hilary moored off Juno Beach by Commodore Oliver RN, naval commander Force 'J' during the afternoon of June 6th. Next morning, a 633rd GT Company RASC DUKW amphibious lorry brings Montgomery and his ADC ashore on 'Mike Green' Beach at Graye-sur-Mer. He talks to the CO of No 7 Beach Group and the 8th Battalion King's Liverpool Irish, Lieutenant-Colonel Humphrey, and then drives off in his jeep, with his ADC to 21st Army Group HQ at Creully.
