Description: Troops build a corduroy road to prepare for the advance over broken ground. A galloper rides up to a field battery with fire orders and a map. Transport on the move up a road. The attack on 14th October, marking the opening of the Battle of Thourout-Thielt, starts with a bombardment by 75mm and 105mm guns, followed by 155mm naval and 155mm Schneider guns. A 'parade' flight of aircraft passes overhead. An aerial dogfight in progress. Soldiers emerge from their trenches and walk forward in bright sunlight (training ?) through a smokescreen. German soldiers rush to reinforce their positions. The animated maps shows the Belgians taking Dzaeme, Roulers and Rumbeke in October. Soldiers with their field kitchens march forward. The Belgians take Thourout on 16th October. A German counter-bombardment falls quite close to the camera. An observation kite balloon spots, and lorries hurry forward. 155mm Schneider howitzers fire. Belgian planes (Nieuport 12s ?) in 'parade' flight.
