Summary: Retrospective made after the death of Lord Roberts in November 1914, showing some of his public appearances 1910-1914.
Description: The Irish Guards' Saint Patrick's Day parade through Hyde Park. Roberts rides with them in his uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment. Later, at their barracks, he distributes Queen Alexandra's shamrock to the men. Roberts in civilian clothes, unveils a statue of General Sir James Wolfe and delivers a speech (probably in Westerham, Surrey, where Wolfe was born). Roberts in civilian clothes, takes part in an Empire Day parade in Hyde Park on 24th May. He shakes hands and talks with various people in an informal manner. Roberts, in Field Marshal's uniform presents its new colours to a Territorial battalion of Infantry on Hackney Marsh. (Possibly 10th (Hackney) Battalion, the London Regiment, created in 1912.) The men are all in blue dress uniforms, or in civilian clothes. They march past as Roberts takes the salute. Roberts inspects men of the National Reserve, in civilian clothes, drawn up on parade in Hyde Park in August 1914. Roberts, in civilian clothes, addresses New Army volunteers in Hyde Park in August 1914. According to the caption he told them "this is no time for playing games". A final portrait still of Roberts in his full-dress Field Marshal's uniform with baton.
