Summary: A film demonstrating the operational role of NADGE (NATO Air Defence Ground Environment).
Description: Scenes show Soviet civilian aircraft at Le Bourget Air Show: not on display are the USSR's military aircraft. NATO fliers, backed up by NADGE's chain of a hundred ground sites, operate to detect and intercept these aircraft. The operation of NADGE is demonstrated using footage shot during an exercise in which a Canadian Air Force jet acts as an "aggressor" (followed later by footage of Tupolev Tu-95 aircraft), and is detected by NADGE ground operators and then intercepted by a NATO aircraft (including Royal Air Force English Electric Lightning aircraft).
