Summary:The recovery and modernisation of French agriculture in terms of ideas, as well as machinery, with the aid of the Marshall Plan.
Description:This film presents the changes in French agriculture and food production following the end of the Second World War. Tractors now enable farmers to plough land more quickly than by horse, however, the agricultural sector in France suffered significantly during the Second World War. Farm buildings and the land itself show evidence of battle. Money and equipment, through the Marshall Plan, is available to farmers and the arrival of tractors, fertilizer and seed in port is shown. Mechanization and the establishment of cooperatives allows for greater success in small to medium sized endeavours. Pasteurization and milk bottling provide milk once more to the people of France. The improvements in production of grain, dairy, meat, fruit and viticulture are shown. Les Halles, Paris, is shown as a destination for this produce and preparations for export are also shown.
