Summary:General Eisenhower give a speech and attends ceremonies in his honour, as part of his farewell tour to England, 1952.
Description:General Eisenhower (accompanied by his wife Mamie) is greeted after his arrival at London Airport by Lieutenant General Ian Jacobs (Chief Staff Officer at the Ministry of Defence, Whitehall); he gives speech to the welcoming crowd. The Eisenhowers drive away from the airport in an official car. Prior to their departure on 16 May 1952, General Eisenhower and Mamie attend ceremonies in their honour at London Airport; these include military bands; a marchpast by the Coldstream Guards and rifle drill by the Royal Corps of Military Police. The general inspects honour guard and military band, and gives a speech to the assembled crowd, before boarding the aircraft "Columbine" en route to Paris.
