Description:General Ridgway arrives at Ciampino Airport, Rome where he is greeted by honour guard and band, 17 June 1952. The general visits Randolfo Pacciardi, Italian Minister of Defence, in the latter's office. Later, he carries out ceremonial duties, inspecting honour guard and placing a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Piazza Veniza, Rome. Present at the ceremony are senior Italian officers: General Efisio Marras (Chief of Italian General Staff), General Cappa and Admiral Ferreri. General Ridgway visits the Italian President, Luigi Einaudi, at the Palazzo del Quirinale (with General Marras and Admiral Ferreri) and also visits the Prime Minister Alcide de Gasperi.
