Summary:Aerial views of SHAPE show the flags of fifteen NATO nations for the first time, after the Federal Republic of Germany formally became a member.
Relating to the International Luchtvaart Show (possibly the fifth of it's kind): Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands arrive at Ypenbourg Airport where they are greeted by Dr T A V Van Den Boogart, the Burgomaster of Rijswijk, where they walk to join the ceremony. Air display follows, as some fifty aircraft (piloted by members of the Dutch National Flying School, the Royal Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy) fly over - these include Grumman Avengers, Hawker Sea Furies, Hawker Sea Hawks, Beechcraft trainers and Fairey Gannets. Crowd members (sitting at tables) watch the proceedings. Other items include: stunt display by French "crazy flyer" Louise Clement, Burgomaster of Adainville, in his Lignel 44; helicopter demonstration by the Dutch Air Force; Wing Commander R F Martin in a 1917 Sopwith Pup; formation of Dutch Air Force F84G Thunderjet aircraft; parachute jump (women parachutists are congratulated by Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard).
General Gruenther and Field Marshal Montgomery walk together in the grounds of SHAPE headquarters, the flags of the NATO nations in the background (among those present are General Norstad, Admiral Lemonnier and General Schuyler).
