Title:RECONNAISSANCE COMPETITION AT RAF STATION LAARBRUCH, GERMANY, 20 MAY TO 24 MAY 1957 [Allocated Title]
Film Number:NAT 1566
Other titles:SHAPE FILM LIBRARY [Allocated Series Title]
Summary:Flags flying. Inside classroom, instructor briefs students; pilots plot using maps. Pilots "scramble" and aircraft take off and are seen in flight. Aircraft lands and groundcrew climb on board, removing a box (presumably containing the reconnaissance film) which is whisked away by truck. This procedure is repeated with a larger aircraft; the package is taken by motorcycle to a train (possibly with a darkroom on board). Film is developed; the resulting photographs are spread on a table. Photographs are taken to trailer, re-checked, then taken to jeep. Photographs being examined; close up of arm with "J" armband. Aircraft lands, and officers and generals (one with foot in cast) get out. Presentation of trophy (possibly by General Valluy) and plaques to winning pilots.
