Summary: One of the trial flights of the Royal Navy prototype rigid airship R9 (or Airship Number 9) at Inchinnan naval base, November 1916 to March 1917.
Description: The airship emerges tail first from its shed, and is steered to the take-off point by its groundcrew. The camera is some distance away and shows the full length of the airship. Very slowly it begins to rise and move away into the clear sky. The camera tries to follow but gets too much flaring from the sun. The airship returns, adopting a very nose-down posture over its shed. It lands, is secured by the groundcrew, and is turned round back into its hangar.
