Summary: Disjointed film of an RAF Cadet Brigade athletics sports in Hastings, 18th June 1918.
Description: The film jumps between the crowd, which includes civilians and schoolboys as well as the cadets, and the various races, which all take place at Priory Meadow cricket ground in Hastings' town centre. Two buglers sound a salute. The sports teams walk around the track in parade (a newsreel cameraman is visible). The wheelbarrow race (in which the 'barrows' are blindfolded), the high jump, a long distance race, a sack race, a hurdling race, a pillow fight on a pole, are all followed by the prizegiving, probably by the wife of a senior officer. The races continue with an obstacle race, a bandsman's race (some of the men have bagpipes) and a parade of the pipe and drum band. One of the cadets is carried past in a mock 'funeral'. The sports continue again with a long distance race, a race to put up a bell tent, and a drill exercise by cadets wearing the 1916 pattern P gas hood on backwards, so acting as a blindfold.
