- Description: The open carriage with the King and Queen leaves the Mansion House with a military escort. The King is in Army uniform. The coach drives to the steps of Saint Paul's Cathedral where an honour guard presents arms. They leave the carriage and go up the steps, which are all that can be seen of the cathedral. After the ceremony they leave by the same coach. The recruits, in civilian clothes, are seated posed for the camera beside sailors who carry inspirational placards. These have slogans such as "The Germans are sinking Irish ships and murdering Irishmen - join us and avenge these crimes" and "We are going to tackle Fritz and we will let him see what Irishmen can do". The men remove the camouflage from the gun and shells. The gun, named as "Bunty" on its side, is loaded and fired. The men pose alongside the gun. The ceremony takes place in the rear courtyard of the palace. Nurses lead the line of people to be commended, followed by civilians and men of various services. The WAAC march past King George and Queen Mary, followed by the Forestry branch of the Women's Land Army. The procession passes through Parliament Square. In the rear courtyard of Buckingham Palace the King and Queen present decorations to members of the women's services.
