- Description: The captions state that the men were attacked and set adrift by a U-boat. A pan over a posed group of the men, now back on shore in a small harbour. Some of them board the small fishing boat N232, riding beside the quay. One of them looks very young and scared. An 18-pounder fires in the desert, throwing up a lot of dust. The captions explain that the soda-water is for the gunners. The machine is portable and hand-cranked. The house is intended as a place to sell items for Italian charities until Italian Red Cross Day on 25th September, and is heavily decorated with banners and bunting. The Princess arrives by car and is presented with a bouquet. She is seen leaving after the opening. The ceremony takes place in the rear courtyard of the palace. The King talks to Able Seaman Albert Mackenzie (back to camera), who is walking on crutches, and presents him with his VC. Next to receive his VC is Sergeant Norman Finch of the Royal Marines.
