Other titles:PICTORIAL NEWS (OFFICIAL) 356-2 (French version, fragment) [Alternative Title]
Summary: I. French language version of a newsreel item on the Duke of Connaught reviewing US troops, probably in Hampshire, June 1918.
II. French language version of a newsreel item on a "Festival of Flowers" in London, June 1918.
III. French language version of a newsreel item on a Red Cross sports meeting not far from London, June 1918.
Description: I. The soldiers are drawn up on parade. Connaught walks past them, talking to some of them. Of the British officers (presumably training staff) escorting him round, one has lost an arm and another walks on crutches. The US contingent marches past.
II. The Duke and Duchess of Portland talk together at the festival, which is a form of garden party. Lord Charles Beresford is also present. The occasion is clearly dignified and civilised.
III. Some of the nurses take part in a race. Convalescent soldiers join in a potato race. There is also a water-joust, a pillow fight over water, and a sprint.

Remarks (item II): given that this was the fourth year of the war, the setting and opulence of the "Festival of Flowers" seem rather distasteful
