- Description: The King is escorted round the base by RAF officers. A groundcrew party hauls down a barrage balloon as he watches. Two other barrage balloons are seen floating side by side in the sky. The King leaves by car. The cadets march past while the King takes the salute. He then leaves the parade ground. (Note the local journalist taking notes.) The King and Queen come up the gangplank onto USS New York. Its ship's company is drawn up on the deck. A pan over the length of the New York from a small boat alongside. The King and Queen board HMS Queen Elizabeth. The King salutes the quarterdeck, and talks with Admiral Sir David Beatty. The royal party is throughout in long shot. The royal gardeners harvest turnips, which have been grown on the lawns and path verges, as part of the food economy drive.
