- Description: The King, in Army uniform, watches the children at work on an allotment. He is joined by Queen Mary, with R E Prothero, the President of the Board of Agriculture, walking behind. A girl gives the Queen a bouquet. This is followed by a portrait shot of Prothero looking out of the window in his office (in profile and half-light). The teachers are demanding a pay increase. They include a significant proportion of women. A vote is taken by a show of hands. The day is quite foggy and overcast, and the Queen remains in her open carriage. Boy Scouts act as markers to drill the Guides into position. One Girl Guide is shown with a complete set of proficiency badges covering most of her right sleeve. The women parade beside their bell tents, listening for orders. Some of them picnic beside a tent. The WAACs fold up their blankets and 'sleep' (in daylight) on the forest floor near their tents. One holds a small dog up for the camera.
