- Description: Work is in progress for the opening of an exhibition of British official war photographs at the galleries. The photographs are blow-ups to life size, including one which is meant to be the largest in the world, showing troops and tanks on the Western Front. Retouch work is done on the photograph with paint brushes and sprays. The Prince arrives by car, escorted by the Honourable Sir Sidney Greville and Lord Treowan. He greets the local dignitaries and inspects a guard of honour from the Monmouthshire Volunteers. He meets a group of VAD nurses at a local hospital (note the cine-cameramen at work in the background). Wearing a collier's overalls and cap, and carrying a safety lamp, he prepares to descend into a shaft at the Victoria Colliery. At Cardiff docks he is shown various light naval weapons. The workers, as they approach the battlefield, put on their shrapnel helmets. The conducting officer leads them over the various craters and ridges.
