- Description: Mr Gompers with two other labour leaders comes up the ladder and onto the quarterdeck of HMS Queen Elizabeth. Admiral Sir David Beatty is there with his staff to shake hands and meet him. The King and Queen leave their cars and enter the fields where the sports are being held. A Canadian pipe band marches past. The sports begin with a sprint race, followed by a shot-put. The King talks with the Canadian officers. A pole vault is shown. The Queen talks with her own companions. The honour guard of French soldiers is drawn up outside a railway station. Pershing (no good shot of him) walks past reviewing them. Mrs Long was drowned when the hospital ship SS Warilda was torpedoed by a U-boat on 3rd August. Contingents representing various women's organisations, including the WAAC, the Land Army and the Girl Guides, file up the steps and into the church for the service. After the service Lieutenant-General Sir Francis Lloyd and Lieutenant-General Sir Nevil Macready leave the church. A lorry takes the boys from outside their public school, and out to the fields. There they gather flax under the supervision of an adult. The man takes a bundle of flax and separates it into fibres for the camera's benefit.
