Summary: Newsreel item on Army manoeuvres on Salisbury Plain, summer 1925.
Description: A howitzer, apparently a 6-inch 26cwt without its gunshield, opens fire. An assembled group of military attachés watches - Japanese, Polish, Italian and French officers are recognisable. Gunners remove the camouflage from their 6-inch Mark VII gun, open fire and cover it again. Vickers Medium Mark I tanks burst out from the cover of a wood. "Aeroplanes, smoke screens, tanks, all played their part - but it's 'the infantry' that counts in the end." Smoke drums generate a smokescreen. Infantry in extended line advance through the smoke with tank support. The soldiers form a firing line in the open as the tanks come through on their flank. At the end of the exercise the troops march back along the road.
