Description: 23 August. Montgomery visits the defended area held by the New Zealand Division. He tours the New Zealand Artillery with General Freyberg and Brigadier Weir. He meets Brigadier Robertson of the 132 Brigade which consists of the Queens Own Royal East Kent Regiment ("the Buffs"), all recently arrived in the Western Desert. Montgomery wears an Australian hat with New Zealand badge as protection against the sun.
