Description: Men serving with No. 10 Platoon Battalion in 'C' Company of 43rd (Wessex) Division's heavy mortar and machine-gun unit, the 8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, are seen stripping and cleaning their Vickers machine-guns during a brief lull in the fighting. After a brief conference with the company commander, the captain in charge of the platoon calls the gunners to action stations. From the shelter of covered dugouts the platoon fires its machine-guns along fixed sights of the German front-line just beyond Maltot.
