Title:A MACHINE-GUN PLATOON IN ACTION ON 43RD (WESSEX) DIVISION'S SECTOR OF THE FRONT NEAR HILL 112 [Allocated Title]
Film Number:A70 94-7
Summary: Additional coverage of the 8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment's 'C' Company in action with the 43rd (Wessex) Division.
Description: Gunners serving with the company's No. 10 Platoon are seen dismantling a Vickers medium machine-gun, cleaning its components and re-assembling them before returning the gun to its mounting on a universal carrier. The platoon is called to action stations; each Vickers team checks ammunition belts and gun-sights before laying down defensive fire on German positions outside Maltot. A sergeant has orders relayed to him over a field telephone from the platoon commander who in turn receives his orders via battalion HQ from 43rd (Wessex) Division's headquarters.
