Description: On either side of a cleared passage through the devastated village of Aunay-sur-Odon stand ruined and gutted houses and blasted tree trunks dominated by the gaunt spindly Church spire at its centre. 2nd Army pioneers work on clearing debris off the roads running through Aunay and fill in a large bomb-crater with masonry from a ruined house. The facade of the Church nave and the spire survey the ruins that surround them.
