Summary: One of a series of training films to aid the recognition of airborne aircraft when viewed from the ground.
Description: “Aircraft recognition training”: The aircraft is of conventional transonic design powered by an Avon turbo jet engine with afterburner, and is the third jet of Swedish design to enter service with the Royal Swedish Airforce. Three versions are in service, all weather attack, all weather fighter and photographic-reconnaissance, all are identical in appearance. With the aid of close up photographs and animated diagrams in plan and side views, the commentator analyses the salient features of the aircraft. Of particular note is the rare form of nostril air intake. Film cuts to aerial views of the Saab in flight providing opportunity to recognise the features noted on the ground from a different perspective. The film closes wih a summary of the modifications incorporated in the aircraft since it’s introduction in 1952.
